Hello, would you consider offering an alternate download zip file package with transparent backgrounds and separate .png files? This would help art newbies like myself who 1. don't have Adobe to open the original PSD files, and 2. struggle with alternate art programs like Paint.net. It would allow easy "placeholder" sprite art, e.g. sci_fi_captain_uniform_happy. e.g. sci_fi_captain_nude_embarrassed. Where there's an upfront level of effort to create the alternate package, it's a once off effort on your part, with huge benefit to your end user. It makes your offering more accessible, which is more user friendly. This may be more attractive for future customers, and may increase your customer base. See these assets for an example of my ask: https://linxuelian.itch.io/charres-wonderland.Thanks for your time. Kind regards, Cheers, Lila
Hey Lila, I've been looking into your request and have given it serious consideration. While it is certainly possible, the time required to do so won't be feasible. I try to keep the pricing as low as I can because I want our asset packs to be as accessible as possible!
We would need to "build" and export more than 2,000 images with different layer configurations per character to allow for all the variations and combinations of facial expressions and outfits. Even when automated this would add a significant chunk of time per character, and increase the already high production cost of each character which would either push up the individual price point or increase the net loss per character.
(Fun little fact, our character assets are nowhere near profitable. It's actually thousands (not exaggerating) of dollars in the red, but I want to help fellow indies like yourself make games without having to sell their cars to buy art, and I'm committed to our outsourced artists who depend on their monthly income, especially while the industry is facing AI disruptions. The dream is that it will turn profitable in a few years!)
I love helping people out, and I'm sorry I can't help you with your request in this instance. <3
Hi, thanks so much for getting back to me. It's fantastic you offer sprites with mutiple outfits and full suite of face expressions. Please know you're already doing a wonderful provision of assets and service for indie dev's and I truly love you for it. It was a cheeky request, but I figured it didn't hurt to ask. I'm happy you took the time to investigate and I'm honored with your reply. Thanks very much for you time. Kind regards, Lila
